    Fashionista Proof

    Hey guys.

Do you remember taking Geometry? Well maybe you haven’t took it yet or maybe you never will. No big deal. Anyways, In some geometry classes there is a topic called geometric proofs- you have to prove that a particular figure was a triangle or the two angles were the same, for example. You would create two columns- one side for the statement and the other side to give a reason for that statement. Well did you know it’s also perfect when using fashion?

I’ve created one in preparation for the holidays. I will feature an outfit and prove to you why it’s a great holiday party outfit. Take a look.

    Fall-matics Style Inspiration

Hey guys, I know it has been a minute, but I’m back (yay!) just in time for the fall season. So below are some style inspiration for fall and of course you know I had to weave it in with mathematics.

    Arithmetic

Arithmetic is the simple, basic form of mathematics. The first thing that comes to my mind is the classic black and white.

    Algebra

In algebra, we’re usually finding the unknown or “foreign” variable. Wearing a flirty skater skirt with sporty colorful sneakers has reached the foreign land in style.

    Untitled #5

    Geometry

It’s all about shapes, shapes and shapes.

    Untitled #6
    Calculus

This branch of mathematics is about the study of change. This fall we’re changing the colors. Summer was all about neon and bright colors. now for fall we are turning the volume of bright colors down to a darker hue.

How are you going to style this Fall?

    The Lady in Red

    Question:

What particular color can a female or a male wear that will most likely attract the opposite sex?

    (Hint: read the title)

Well, if you guess red, then you’re correct.

According to a study from the University of Rochester, wearing red would make you more attractive towards the opposite sex. That’s right, you heard me. All this time you’ve been trying to catch Johnny’s eye with your curve hugging navy blue dress, when you should have took it up a notch with that red hot dress.

    Experiment:
100 men in the study were given photos of a “moderately attractive” female and were asked to rate how attractive she was
Shirt color (the same woman with three different color shirts)
o   Wearing red was considered most attractive
              Background color (Three different colors)
o   The female was considered most attractive with the red background
Also, the guys were asked if they had $100, how much they were willing to spend on the female.
When the female was wearing red, guys were willing to spend more on her than when she was wearing blue.
    ————————————————————————————————————

The same goes the other way around too, women are attracted to men in red.

    Hubba, hubba
    Why?

For this powerful, yet subtle color men believe that they’re less likely to be rejected by women wearing red, the study concluded.

    Biological?

The color red signals fertility and men are built to seek a mate who’s fertile, available. (Source: http://www.drlauraberman.com/sexual-health/-women-red-irresistible)

Here are some inspirations for rocking red

    Red Hot

Note: By no way I’m completely suggesting that you should only wear red to attract someone. If you love blue or green or polka dot, by all means wear it 🙂 This was an actual study that I believed was very interesting to report.

    Where’s “Math”?

Hello again and happy weekend!!! Okay do you remember the book series, Where’s Waldo, the red and white striped character who was hidden in the sea of people?

    Image: Methodshop.com

Well…I played a game similar to that. It’s called Where’s “Math”? Yes, that’s right. This week I challenged myself to find fashion related articles and try to find the math within. So here’s what I found:

Not even two weeks after the Boston Marathon Bombing someone thought it was a great idea to sell this now one-of-a-kind t-shirt from Nike.

    Stylogic

Good day my fashionable fashionistas, you look very fierce today. And yes, I’m talking to you too little lady wearing those pajamas. You still look fierce.
Anyways, today I’m going to introduce you to a series called Stylogic. This is based off the term logic. It’s style and logic together- get it? Haha.
Logic is what you would call basis of reasoning.  It’s thinking properly of arriving at proper conclusions. It is used a lot in math for proving theorems, for example. Logic is used in philosophy, mathematics and now, fashion. I could go on and on about the subject, but I need to get to the point.

In the subject, there is a term called Transitivity of Implication. Ooh, sounds important!
    It’s described as:
    (A and B) and (B and C) then (A and C)

In terms of fashion, what came into my mind was the complement of colors. You know, the colors that look good together.

So let’s start off with two pairs of colors

    Orange and Blue

    & Khaki and Orange

    Image: Adele Spencer

    Define:
    A:Blue, B: Orange and C: Khaki

    If

    and

    and

     and
    then
     and
According to Transitivity of Implication, blue and khaki would go together. If they both look good with orange, then maybe they would look great together.

    Some Inspiration
    Blue and Khaki

    Your Turn:
Try to wear khaki and blue together, whether for fun or business. Look at some of the pictures for inspiration.
