Nothing is more beautiful than witnessing the transition of summer to winter with Fall. The sight of Pumpkins everywhere – on porches, farms, pies, lattes and even Skittles. The cool air hitting your lungs (when you’re not congested) and of course Football!! I don’t know about you guys, but I’m excited for fall. So far this season hasn’t been that bad, but what are we expecting for the remainder of the season.
For the Washington, DC area, expect the usual cooler temps. However, overall we may experience warmer than average temperatures. That’s right! According to the National Oceanic Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) we are possibly expecting El Nino-warming of the tropic pacific ocean. This event not only affects the US, but the World for the Fall and Winter season.Which means you may not experience your usual weather events during this season.
So to make the long story short, there are days we may see highs in the 40s and possibly highs in the 70s.
How should you dress for Fall?
Layer up
Since we may see big range temperatures (e.g. as low as 45°F in the morning and as high as 70°F in the afternoon), it’s important you should layer up. Start off with a thin top and then eventually top the layer with a sweater and/or jacket.
Moisturize, moisturize, moisturize
With colder weather comes dryness. If you’re like me and you don’t want to experience any cracks or chaps on your body or your face, then you need to moisturize. To keep skin hydrated, use a body scrub to help soften the skin and seal it with a moisturizer.
Dress bright, be happy
During fall, some of us may tend to wear darker colors. While black goes with everything, it could also add a bit of gloom with the addition of cooler weather.
If you add warmer colors like orange, pink or yellow into your wardrobe it could boost your mood.
Jules Standish, style and color consultant, says that “Looking at warm, bright colors…releases dopamine-known as the ‘feel-good hormone’ which can improve our mood.”

Yeah I am obsessive about my moisturizing regime. No one has time for ashy skin! Gross and it is itchy so lose-lose. I use oil after my shower as well, lock it in! 🙂 I've been hearing about El Nino and how that might affect the weather forecasts, I heard this winter will still suck in terms of snow but hopefully those insights are wrong and we get a reprieve this winter. 🙂 Have a great one Chi! -Iva
October 28, 2015 at 1:17 pmI know right! I going to try that and add oil to my skin after taking a shower. For some reason, I never thought about that. The temperatures haven't been so bad, so far. We had highs in the low 70s for the past couple of days and they're expecting more highs along 70s for next week. 🙂
